Find a nice quiet spot, sit back and take a journey into the future with me.  Now, close your eyes and imagine...
It's Wednesday November 7, 2012.  You roll out of bed and anxiously turn on the television to see who won the 2012 Presidential election.  The final results are in, Mitt Romney won.  To add insult to injury, Republicans won control of Congress thereby creating the perfect-storm.  ZzzzzZzzzzZzzzz...pardon me, I must have passed out and hit my head on the keyboard.  Wait, keep those eyelids closed!  Take a few minutes to analyze the impact this will have on your life.

Okay, you can open your eyes now.  I bet it feels good to be back in the present where you have an opportunity to prevent this nightmare from materializing, huh?  If that wasn't a nauseating bloodcurdling tribulation, you must be voting for the Romney/Ryan ticket or need to educate yourself on what's at stake this election.

Those who are complacent, politically uninformed or misinformed will surely have a rude awakening if Mitt Romney is given (or buys) the keys to the White House.  Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are perfect running mates, two malevolent human parasites with an abnormal propensity for lying, exaggerating and spewing deceitful rhetoric in their desperate attempt to win the White House.  Money earmarked for the general election can't be spent until after the candidate's convention.  The Republican convention ended August 30th.  Translation: They can now unleash more billions of dollars to saturate the airways with deceptive campaign ads.

I'm concerned about a few 'dirty-tricks' in the Republican playbook that could potentially sway the election;

Fictional and Fear-Mongering Campaign Ads:
We all know fear-mongering and fictional campaign ads are essential in the Republican playbook.  The difference this election is the injection of the Supreme Court's disastrous 'Citizens United' decision which opened the floodgates for corruption and unlimited amounts of money to be poured into political campaigns.  Unfortunately, a lot of people take campaign ads at face value, trusting and believing anything portrayed.  It is important to make sure you navigate through unregulated political ads and media hype by discerning the truth and verifying the facts.  It's not hard to do...or you can just watch the news once in a while.  Politicians seem to forgot it's easy to fact check their claims in today's fast moving internet, news cycle and social media environment.

Voter Suppression:
Voter suppression operations aimed at reducing the ability for blacks and minorities to vote are occurring in many states (e.g. purging voter rolls, implementing laws to limit early voting, creating new voter id laws and redrawing electoral maps to dilute minority voters).  President Obama's administration, Attorney General Eric Holder and the constituents in states affected are aggressively fighting these suppression policies in court.  We can only pray they'll be successful in overturning these laws before the November election.

While President Obama's cavalry is occupied with handling the overall campaign strategy we can do our part as a hub in the 'grassroots ground game'.  This requires a two-pronged approach.  First, we surround him with pre-election support to facilitate the combat against Republican dirty-tricks.  Second, we show up at the polls and vote!  Vote for the democratic candidates running for congress, that will support his agenda, as well.

I urge you, please use whatever platform you have to help keep folks informed and motivated to support our president.  If not for yourself, consider being an advocate for those who would be dramatically impacted by a Republican administration; gutting safety nets for the poor, disabled and elderly, dismantling youth, special needs, education and health care programs to name a few.  We can't afford to allow ourselves, or others, to be bamboozled by Republican tactics.  Don't be complaisant and leave it up to others to decide your future.  The consequences of inaction will be insidious, long term and devastating.

Voter Assistance Information:
State-specific registration information can be easily obtained at http://www.eac.gov/voter_resources/contact_your_state.aspx.  Simply locate and click on your state in the map or select your state from the drop-down list located directly below the map.  This site is an authentic source for voter assistance.  It provides instructions on how to register, allows you to register online, verify your current voter registration status, identify your polling place and more.

Here's a 'Voter Roll Call Alert' question.  Do you know someone who attended college out of state during the 2008 presidential election, registered to vote in that state and have since moved back home or elsewhere?  If so, they should resolve any potential residential issues.  Please ask them to make sure they have registered in their current residential state in order to vote in the 2012 election.

What Are You Doing For The Obama Grassroots Ground Game?
You can make a campaign donation or join an official Grassroots organization.  Another option, do your own grassroots work.  It doesn't take much...harness the power of the internet, social media and twitter to promote voting, talk to friends and family about the significance of this election, keep them motivated to vote and aware of the 'dirty-tricks' and false information.  Send them the voter assistance link (above), let them know they can register online, check their status and ask them to pass it along.  Do you know someone who'll need help getting to or assistance at the polls?  Why not volunteer to assist them?   That one new voter you help bring to the polls on November the sixth could be the one that makes the difference.
